Print & Painting Quality

Will an original watercolour fade over time?

Technological developments in watercolours in the last 20 years mean that the majority of watercolour pigments I use are no more likely to fade than oil paints. I always recommend that original paintings are framed with UV protective glass as well. So you can be confident your original painting will not fade in the slightest for generations.

How are the Limited Edition Prints produced?

Anna’s original watercolours are scanned and high resolution and the digital file is then printed by a specialist Fine Art Printing company who use the Giclée process and top quality archival inks.

The Giclée printmaking process does not use copper or aluminium plates like the traditional lithographic printing process, instead the image is sprayed onto the paper at the rate of one million droplets of ink per second giving an apparent visual resolution of over 1800 dpi (dots per inch).

This technique, although slow, produces prints that are rich in colour, with a flawless velvety texture that matches the feel of the original.

Non-yellowing conservation quality smooth watercolour paper is used for the prints.

How good is the print quality?

The prints are produced by a specialist fine art printer. Printed onto the highest quality acid-free archival watercolour paper, and using only very specialised inks, the prints have the remarkable colour saturation and continuous tone characteristics one would expect of an original painting. In fact, distinguishing one from an original can be very difficult, even to the expert eye. The printer is a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild.

Will my print fade over time?

The inks are of the highest light-fast standards. The ink and paper combinations used meet the light-fastness standards of both the Fine Art Trade Guild’s blue wool scale and those of Wilhelm Imaging Research in America. If your print will spend many hours every day in direct sunlight you may want to consider framing it with UV protective glass.

Should I frame my print with UV protective glass?

If your print will spend many hours every day in direct sunlight you may want to consider framing it with UV protective glass called Conservation Glass. Conservation Glass acts as a sunscreen for artwork, blocking most harmful light rays and helps protect framed pieces, keeping them fresh and attractive for years longer than regular glass.

What is a Certificate of Authenticity?

The larger prints come with a certificate which provides the title and edition number. Ask your framer to attach this to the back of the frame to keep the details with the print.

If you need the print before that, please use the Contact Form to let us know and we’ll hurry things along!

Gift items (cards, prints & mini prints) are dispatched twice a week, so you should receive them within a week (in the UK)

Delivery prices

Delivery is £3.99 per order within the UK. International delivery charges* will be calculated on the size and weight of the print/s. You will be able to see these charges before you proceed to the payment pages.

*Some countries may charge customs and duties for your parcel. You are responsible for these customs and duties charges.

Delivery carriers

We use Royal Mail, including the Special Delivery and International Signed-For service that require a signature on delivery.

Please be aware of the possible difficulties encountered when not receiving delivered goods in person.

For framed prints a courier service is used, again requiring signature.

Please note: unfortunately, we are unable to deliver goods to BFPO or PO Box addresses.

Returns

We want you to be totally satisfied with your purchase. If you’re not, for whatever reason, just let us know within 7 days of receiving it.

You can then return it to us using the original packaging and, once we receive it back safe and sound, we will refund you in full for the artwork (less P&P), or you can choose another piece to replace it.

Please note – framed work is more difficult and expensive to return so if you have reservations about the picture you’re looking to purchase, we suggest you buy it unframed so you can check it ‘in situ’ before you have it framed.
